She has a very basic philosophy that each child is created by God, that we are all unique and so too is our learning ability. She believes that her early childhood classroom shall be a safe place where children feel comfortable to use their creativity to learn and explore the world around them.  Her students do many hands on activities to help develop social skills as well as academic skills so that the children are able to move on to the next level with confidence.

Grades 7 & 8 - Signe Burkart (burkarts@archmil.org)

Educating God's most precious gift, children, has been a passion of mine for a very long time. I come from a line of teachers having an older sister who was a teacher, an aunt as well as my father that was trained to be a teacher but never really had the opportunity to teach because he was called upon to help with the family farm. I grew up on a dairy farm in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin which was a century farm. I am a Valders High School graduate and received my Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc. My husband is Mike Burkart, who hails from St. Nazianz, WI and is a retired Park Specialist for the City of New Holstein. We have two grown daughters; one in Ankeny, Iowa and the other in Waukesha, WI. I have several years experience in education in various levels with much of my experience being in Catholic Schools.

My favorite time of year is late spring and early summer because I love seeing God's creation waking up from its long winter's nap as well as enjoying the presence of the colors of nature returning and warmer temperatures. I enjoy gardening, mainly flower gardening, sewing, floral arranging, reading, travel and camping. Mike and I live in the home we built a number of years ago in rural New Holstein. An important part of our household are our two Shelties, Heidi and Ramsey. I am pleased to be a part of the St. Mary's School Family as well as being an important part of your children's lives.
